HYDERABAD, Sept 29: Anti-Terrorism Court judge Ali Ashraf Shah here on Monday awarded 42 years of rigorous imprisonment and Rs200,000 fine each to two persons in two separate murder and arms ordinance cases.
The accused, Miandad Khaskheli and Mashooq Khaskheli, faced trials in two separate cases, registered at the Tando Allahyar police station on June 14, 1999. They were earlier awarded sentences for the same offences by the court but they moved the Sindh High Court.
The Sindh High Court, while suspending the sentence, ordered re-framing of charges and re-hearing of the cases. The court recorded the statements of prosecution witnesses and appointed Irfan Kalhoro to represent the accused.
The accused were charged after a person, Ali Hassan, was killed by them on June 14, 1999. Ali Hassan and Ali Murad were riding on a motorcycle when they were signalled by four bandits to stop but they sped away. The robbers, however, fired upon them, killing Ali Hassan on the spot.
The killers were later identified as Allah Dino, Miandad Khaskheli, Mashooq Khaskheli and Khan Mohammad Talpur who is absconding. Two policemen, passing through the area, chased the killers and an encounter ensued, resulting in the death of Allah Dino.
Two separate cases were registered by the police against the accused and filed in the ATC.
UPLIFT SCHEMES: A total number of 415 development schemes have been executed under four phases of the Khushal Pakistan Programme (KPP) in Hyderabad district, it was officially disclosed in a session of the district council the other day by the district officer, Finance department, Abdul Sattar Jatoo.
He said that 41 schemes were executed under phase-I of the KPP at a cost of 56.34 million whereas Rs60.80 million was released by the government. An amount of Rs62.50 was actually allocated for it and there has been a saving of Rs4.50 million.
In the second phase, the government had allocated Rs322.17 million, he said.
