KARACHI: BoG formed for police hospitals


KARACHI, Sept 28: In order to establish and modernize hospitals of Sindh police as the model healthcare institutions, the Board of Governors comprising police and public representatives was constituted on Sunday.

The board was formed at a special meeting, presided over by IGP Syed Kamal Shah, which was attended by a five-member delegation of Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC), led by its chief Sharafuddin Memon.

The police department will be represented by IGP, AIG, CCPO, all the regional police officers, DIG Headquarters and AIG Welfare. The CPLC chief, President of Overseas Chamber of Commerce, City Nazim or his nominated representative, President FPCCI, President KCCI, President APNS or his nominated person and others will represent private sector in the Board of Governors.

The participants of the meeting was informed that the board would decide the utilization of funds collected for development of police hospitals. However, the board would have no concern with the fund given by the government, as the government fund would be utilized as per policy.

To ensure proper utilization of funds, a managing committee with representation of police department, CPLC and Board of Governors, would also be constituted. The committee would ensure construction and maintenance of police hospitals according to the master plan.

It was further decided that after the preparation of master plan, a detailed briefing would be given to the chief minister.

The CPLC chief, Mr Sharafuddin, informed the participants that the philanthropists had decided to donate Rs10 million to upgrade police hospitals and provide modern healthcare facilities to the policemen and their families.—PPI
