KARACHI: Ex-HCB officer pays Rs8.6m for his release

KARACHI, Sept 17: An accountability court ordered the release of a former chief executive officer of the Hyderabad Cantonment Board after he returned Rs8.6 million.
Badar Alam Bachani was convicted in 2001 by the AC-2 of amassing wealth beyond his known sources. He was also fined Rs20 million.
The convict appealed to the Sindh High Court, which ordered him to pay Rs8.64385 million within three months and then seek his release.
An attorney for the convict appeared in the court and placed on record the documentary proof of the payment.
