India seeks permanent UN council seat
NEW DELHI, Sept 15: Indian Foreign Minister Yashwant Sinha has renewed his country’s long-standing plea for a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council, seizing on fresh calls by Secretary General Kofi Annan for an overhaul of the world body.
In an interview before leaving for the annual meeting of the UN General Assembly in New York, Mr Sinha said India wanted reform not only of international security structures but also of the world economic order.—AFP
