Unseated BD MP moves court

DHAKA, Sept 15: Delwar Hossain Sayeedi of Jamaat-e-Islami, Bangladesh, on Monday moved the Supreme Court seeking stay of the High Court verdict that stripped him of his membership of the Parliament.

Advocate-on-record Aftabuddin submitted the petition on Monday on behalf of Saye-edi.

The vacation bench of the Supreme Court is scheduled to meet on Tuesday.

Justice Mohammad Iman Ali of the single-member bench of the High Court, dealing with the election disputes, on Sunday held the election of Sayeedi null and void after the court found him guilty of illegal practices in electioneering.
