KARACHI, Sept 11: Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal (PBM) will play a significant role in the welfare of shiftees of Lyari Expressway Project and it will establish vocational centres at Hawkesbay, Taisar Town and Baldia Town and a child labour centre at Hawkesbay.
This was stated by the Managing Director of Pakistan Baitul Maal, Brig Sarfraz Ahmed, at a briefing on the Lyari Expressway Resettlement Project.
Brig Sarfraz said local people would be given preference in these vocational centres and efforts would be made that talented boys and girls could benefit from these centres.
It was decided that till such time, a separate building for the vocational institute is constructed, a portion of Lyari Expressway Project Site office will be given to Pakistan Baitul Maal for immediate establishment of an institute which would itself manage its affairs.
After the briefing, MD Sarfraz Ahmed, along with the project director Shafiqur Rehman Paracha and other officials, visited the newly-established settlement of the shiftees at Hawkesbay and the second site of Taisar Town.
Brig Sarfraz visited various development works and the site for proposed vocational institute and planted a tree.—APP
