ABBOTTABAD, Sept 9: Five people were killed and 30 others injured when a passenger bus going to Havellian from Abbottabad, fell into a ravine, some eight kilometres from here, on Tuesday.

The bus driver lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a sharp turn. Three people — Rafique, son of Gul Zaman; Sharafat, son of Sher Afzal; and Ms Maryam, daughter of Manzoor, died on the spot while Nadeem, son of Miskeen, and Arshid, son of Noor Agha, later died at the Ayub Hospital, Abbottabad.

The cause of accident was stated to be overspeeding and failure of brakes. Bus driver Aslam managed to escape unhurt but was later arrested.
