PESHAWAR, Sept 9: The wrap-up mission of the World Bank, presently visiting the NWFP, appreciated the education policies of the government and assured its full cooperation to continue assistance.
According to an official handout issued on Tuesday, the delegation led by economist Manuela Ferro called on NWFP minister for education here. Secretary schools and literacy Shahid Amjad Afridi was also present on this occasion.
The minister briefed the delegation about the policies of the MMA government for the provision of education facilities, improving its standard, bridging the gap between madaris and the main stream education institutions, improving management in education and proper utilization of resources.
The minister said that efforts were being made for filling up the vacant seats of teachers and provision of furniture, fixtures and lab equipment in the schools.
The secretary schools informed the delegation about the separation of teaching and management cadres and the most modern MIS (Management of Information Service) in the department.
He said that all rules regulations of a management cadre in the department had been notified and its full separation would be completed by December.
Ms Ferro appreciated govt’s steps and said that the mission during its 10-day visit in the province would compile the requirements of the province in a report for the next steps to be taken.
