KARACHI: Major roads need repairs

KARACHI, Sept 6: The town administrations under the City District Government Karachi have not yet repaired the main roads which developed deep potholes following the rains in July.

The road in front of the Holy Family hospital, off Britto Road, has developed more than two-foot deep trenches which are not only hampering the flow of traffic but are also dangerous for motorcycle- and scooter-riders.

The Jehangir Road, which links the Gurumandir intersection to the Teen Hatti bridge, gives a similar look.

The town administration had earlier filled up the depressions created by the sinking of a portion of the road. But the faulty stone and gravel work gave way and it again has 10-inch to a foot deep potholes, which impede the traffic flow.

Industrialists of the North Karachi Industrial Area say the road from the Shafique Mill to Godhra Colony has developed two-foot deep trenches, which were damaging small vehicles. The road may be blocked for a long time if a heavy truck gets stuck up in a trench.—APP
