Education’s role stressed

Published September 4, 2003

ISLAMABAD, Sept 3: Parliamentary leader of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal Qazi Hussain Ahmed on Tuesday said the ruling classes, led by feudals, had deliberately kept the youth away from education in the last 56 years, which had resulted in backwardness of the country in all fields.

Speaking at a function organized by the Jamaat-i-Islami’s social welfare organization, Al Khidmat Foundation, at a hotel, he said illiteracy was the fundamental cause of physical and spiritual diseases, which ought to be addressed through a revolutionary approach.

He called for reactivation of the role of the mosques to motivate the masses for attaining education, particularly about the health hazards.
