XEN, SDO held for taking bribe

SARGODHA, Aug 31: An executive engineer, his stenographer and an SDO of the Sargodha tehsil municipal administration were arrested on Friday on the charge of receiving bribe from a contractor.

Contractor Nisar Ahmed Warraich had lodged a complaint with the anti-corruption establishment that XEN (Tehsil Officer) Khalid Shabir Butt demanded Rs10,000 for issuance of work order for the construction of a road between Dera Sadiq Bajwa and Orient Public School while SDO Chaudhry Adbul Hameed (ATO) demanded Rs5,000 for giving favourable recommendation for the renewal of his registration.

An ACE team, headed by Judicial Magistrate Hafiz Tariq Ahmed, raided the TMA office at Satellite Town and recovered Rs5,000 from Abdul Hameed, Rs10,000 from stenographer Tariq Mahmood who told the police that the amount was given to him by the XEN.

Influential people thronged the ACE office where the three accused were kept.

DACOITIES: A police constable was among the seven men robbed of their belongings while two motorcycles were driven away in the district during the last 24 hours.

Dacoits looted seven men, including Constable Zulfikar Dogar, near Chak 125 SB on Friday night.

According to details, Abu Sufian was taking six passengers on his rickshaw when they were intercepted by five dacoits near the village.

The dacoits snatched cash, wrist watches and other valuables from them and ran away.

Three armed men took away the motorcycle (No KB 4675) of milkman Muhammad Ilyas from near Chak 20 NB.

Two armed men deprived Muhammad Ramzan of his new motorcycle (No SGK 5192) while he was going to his workplace in the city.

Meanwhile, it was learnt that some of the dacoits have been identified as Imran Beg, Zeeshan Ashraf, Rashid and Murtaza alias Toyia. Sargodha police registered cases with no arrest.
