RAWALPINDI, Aug 30: At least 10 persons died on the spot and six sustained critical injuries when a speeding passenger bus collided with a van at Jand-Fateh Jang road on Saturday.

Police said a bus (LRD-3290) was going to Kohat from Rawalpindi when at Jand it hit a van (Peshawar-104). The accident was attributed to reckless driving.

The passengers killed were identified as Kamran Mehmood Kiani, Riaz Ahmed Khan, Fahad Khan, Mehmood Akhter Kiani, Gulab Khan, Malik Mumtaz, Sajjad Ahmed Bajwa, Robina and Farooq Altaf. The name of one victim is yet to be ascertained, the police said.

The injured in the accident are: Saleem Khan, Ghulam Hayder, Ahmed Younus, Nashad Khan, Qasim Afridi and Banars Khan. They were taken to Fauji Foundation Hospital and the DHQ hospital Basla where they are said to be in critical condition.
