Two prison Officials suspended

GUJRANWALA, Aug 25: Two assistant superintendents of the local central jail were suspended from service and another transferred by the DIG prisons on charges of negligence and inefficiency on Monday.

Reports said a prisoner was killed allegedly due to torture by jail officials some 10 days ago while four others were injured in a clash between two groups of prisoners.

DIG prisons Abdul Sattar visited the jail on the same day and ordered a probe into the incident. On Monday, he suspended assistant superintendents Mirza Riaz Ahmad and Mohammed Arshad from service and transferred assistant superintendent Mohammed Ata to Lahore.

The DIG had suspended from service a dozen jail officials some three days ago.
