KARACHI: Hand-over of scheme 33 to city govt demanded
KARACHI, Aug 21: The Gulzar-i-Hijri Cooperative Housing Societies Federation (GHCHSF) has appealed to the highest authorities to transfer the possession of Scheme-33 to the city government and ensure the start of outer development work at the housing project.
Honorary secretary of the federation, SM Jaleel, told the APP on Thursday that the 27-year-old housing project’s scheme-33 in Gulzar-i-Hijri was still waiting development as no agency was taking responsibility for the job.
“The entire scheme be transferred to City District Government Karachi with balance amount of funds and relevant records”, he demanded.
Similarly, the abandoned outer development work should resume and be completed within the given time period, Mr Jaleel said.
He said that since all the related departments, such as KMC, KDA, Karachi Building Control Authority have been merged in the city government, the ownership of scheme-33 should also be handed over to the same.
He also demanded the appointment of a panel comprising city Nazim, executive officers of district government and representatives of housing societies’ federation, for sorting out problems and to register complaints and grievances of housing societies.
Mr Jaleel said the hard-earned money of thousands of shelterless people had stuck up for more than last two decades and office-bearers of the federation were running pillar-to-post to achieve desired results.
About 75,000 of allottees, who have paid their share of outer development charges and cost of land some 20 years ago, were frustrated and hoping that someone at from the top should intervene to rescue them.
“We want that this scheme should be made operational and the allottees must start building their houses as soon as possible”, Mr Jaleel said.
“I am confident that if the outer development is initiated at this scheme, major construction work will begin at this project which has 26,000 acres of government land”, he added.—APP
