Special package for students urged: Rain-hit areas

HYDERABAD, Aug 16: The Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA) at a meeting held here on Friday demanded of the Sindh government to announce a special package for the students of rain-hit districts.

The meeting with Prof Sher Khan Seelro in the chair resolved that students of class-XI of Badin, Thatta and Tharparkar should be exempted from the payment of admission fee and a relief package should be announced for all students of the province.

The meeting urged the vice-chancellor Sindh University to extend the last date for submission of examination forms of college side 2003 by one month and also exempt students of three districts from the payment of examination fees.

The meeting resolved that the SPLA members would perform their examination duties in three districts without charging any fees.

The meeting also called upon the chairman Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education to exempt the students of three districts from payment of fees for supplementary examination 2003. Š It urged the government to issue a notification about the abolition of computer fees.

ADMISSIONS: The Isra university here on Saturday announced the schedule of admissions for fall semester 2003 in various degree programmes of medical, computer science, information technology and business administration (MBBS, BBA (Hons), BBA (IT), BCS (Hons), BIT, MCS, MIT, MBA and MITM).

Last date for submission of admission forms has been fixed as Aug 30, 2003. All candidates seeking admission were required to pass pre-admission entry test scheduled to be held on Sept 07, 2003.

Classes will start from Oct 25, 2003. Candidates have been advised to obtain admission kit including application form, prospectus and other information on the payment of prescribed fee of Rs500 at the Isra University Campus, Hala Road, Hyderabad and the Soneri Bank Hyderabad.
