RAWALPINDI, Aug 15: Two sisters died of suffocation, while the third one survived in an apparent gas leak incident at Dhok Kashmirian, Sadiqabad, on Friday, police and hospital authorities said.

The incident came to light on Friday morning when their fourth sister went into the room where Naila, 25, Shumaila, 18, and Shehla, 16, had been sleeping, to woke them up.

Mst Martha, the mother of the girls residing in house DK-314 at Dhoke Kashmirian in Sadiqabad told the police that when her fourth daughter entered the room to wake up her sisters, she found Naila and Shumaila lying almost dead and Shehla in a semi- conscious condition. She said her daughter found the room filled with gas.

The three sisters were rushed to the Rawalpindi General Hospital where Niala and Shumaila expired, while Shehla is said to be in critical condition.

Mst Martha suspected that the gas started leaking when her youngest daughter hung her school bag on the gas valve before going to bed.

A REPORTER ADDS: At least three persons were killed while one was critically injured in separate incidents during the last 48 hours, police said on Friday.

In the first incident, Ghulam Shabir, supervisor of a poultry farm, was killed by his colleague at Thanda Pani village near Bhara Kahu, police said.

The police suspected that he had been murdered by Sher Ali and Mohammad Ramzan, colleague of Shabir, and thrown into the well. The incident came to light when some passers-by informed the police that a body was lying in the well.

The police said the motive behind the murder was yet to be investigated. However, the body of the deceased was sent to hospital for autopsy.

In another incident, Mirza Kashif Baig was killed when an unidentified vehicle hit him. Kashif died on the spot. Some passers-by informed the police that a body was lying on the roadside, police said.

Meanwhile, Iftakhar Ahmed was killed while Tahir Iqbal was critically injured when a car (IDK- 6419) knocked them down while they were on their way to Murree on their motorcycle (LHU-1897).

Both the injured were rushed to hospital where Iftakhar died because of the injuries while Tahir is said to be in critical condition.

TWO HELD: The capital police have arrested two suspected murderers involved in the killing of a man at Shahdra Picnic Point, a spokesman for the police said on Friday.

The spokesman said they were hunting for the third suspected murderer.

Fareed along with his three friends Zahid, Arshad and Waheed went for picnic at Shadara where Arshad and Waheed allegedly attacked and injured Fareed with an iron rod after giving him liquor mixed with some poisonous substance.

After killing their friend, Waheed and Arshad hurled threats of dire consequences to Zahid if he disclosed the incident.

The spokesman said Zahid belonging to Lahore and had come to Islamabad for meeting his friends. Zahid and Fareed spent a day in Arshad’s house in New Shakryal where Waheed was also present. On the following day, all of them went for picnic where the incident took place.

He said on October 9, 2002, Freed’s parents lodged complaint with the Industrial Area police that their son had been abducted by some unidentified culprits. However, Freed’s body was recovered by Bhara Kahu police from the Shahdra Picnic Point.

Later, the police team investigating into the murder arrested Zahid from Lahore and shifted him to Islamabad for further investigation. On his pointing, police also arrested Waheed while the police are hunting for Arshad.
