MUZAFFARABAD, Aug 15: In order to apprise the world fraternity about their plight at the hands of Indian occupation troops, the Kashmiris across the Line of Control observed Indian Independence Day as Black Day on Friday.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference had given the call.

Protest public meetings and demonstrations were held in all major cities and towns of occupied Kashmir. The areas in which protest rallies were staged were: Bagh, Rawalakot, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur and Muzaffarabad.

A protest rally was organized at the Central Press Club under the auspices of the Kashmir Refugees Council.

The rally was addressed by representatives of different social, religious and political organizations, AJK Minister for Forest Mufti Mansoor-ur-Rehman, Mrs Norin Arif, MLA, and Refugee leader Raja Izhar Khan.

Speaking on the occasion, the speakers called upon the world powers and human rights organizations to force India to give Kashmiris their fundamental right to self-determination in accordance with UNSC-adopted unimplemented resolutions which guaranteed a peaceful solution to Kashmir issue.

AJK Minister Mufti Mansoor-ur-Rehman said that the on-going freedom struggle of the valiant Kashmiri people was indigenous in nature and in accordance with the international laws and principles, saying it had got the backing of the UN resolutions.—APP
