ISLAMABAD, Aug 4: The United States on Monday extended humanitarian assistance for the victims of rains and floods in Sindh and Balochistan.
The Pakistan Red Crescent Society will provide $50,000 worth of food, plastic sheets, kitchen utensils, blankets, lanterns and clothing for displaced and affected families, says a press release.
US ambassador Nancy J. Powell said: “We are very concerned about the health and welfare of the thousands of families that have been affected in southern Pakistan. We are pleased to provide this disaster relief assistance, which we hope will help mitigate the devastating effects of this flood”. The US has also made two helicopters available to help in the relief efforts.
