SWABI, Aug 2: Opposition members in the district council have criticized the district coordination officer for meddling in the affairs of the Swabi tehsil council.

The opposition group, led by Jehanzeb Khan, on Friday said the DCO’s attitude towards the Independent Swabi Group posed a threat to the smooth functioning of the tehsil council.

He said instead of promoting coordination among various departments, the District Coordination Officer (DCO) had played a partisan role detrimental to the functioning of the local bodies.

Referring to the removal of tehsil Naib Nazim Ali Yar Khan, he said tehsil Nazim Masood Jabar would also meet the same fate as the opposition enjoyed the support of 36 members in a house of 56.

He claimed that Mr Jabar had failed to secure Rs45 million fund of the tehsil council from the district government.

Meanwhile, speaking at the concluding session of the district council, Nazim Sher Zaman Sher demanded that Peshawar Electric Supply Company should stop unscheduled loadshedding in the area.

He said each member of the district council would get his due share in the development schemes.
