An announcement to this effect was made by a spokesman of the provincial education department on behalf of Sindh Education Minister Irfanullah Khan Marwat here on Wednesday.

However, he informed that all the educational institutions in the province would remain open on Aug 14 to mark the Independence Day of Pakistan.

According to the statement issued on Wednesday, the students would assemble in their respective educational institutions on Aug 14. Flag-hoisting ceremonies would be held and the national anthem would be recited while speeches would be delivered with reference to the Independence Day.

The spokesman further said that the last date for admission to first year classes in the colleges in Karachi had been extended up to Aug 17. Previously, the last date for reopening of the educational institutions was Aug 7.—APP
