KARACHI, July 29: The education department of the City District Government Karachi has directed principals of intermediate colleges and heads of higher secondary schools to conduct evaluation tests from the next academic session on a monthly and quarterly basis.

The school heads have also been directed to ensure that students remain punctual throughout the academic session and not to send examinations forms of students having less than 75 per cent attendance to the Board of Intermediate Education, Karachi.

At a meeting of college principals and school heads, the EDO, higher education, Prof Raees Alvi, stressed the need for improving the standard of education.

He deplored that the standard of education in government-run colleges and schools was declining despite efforts by the authorities concerned.

He said heads of educational institutions should take effective measures to improve the reputation of their institutions.—PPI
