Shahnaz serves Rs200m notice on Wapda

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, July 24: Former national hockey team manager Shahnaz Sheikh has served a legal notice on Wapda for the recovery of Rs200 million damages.

The notice has been received by Wapda an official told Dawn on Thursday.

He said that president Wapda Sports Control Board Brig. Najam-ul-Saqib was on leave and the contents of the notice would be revealed when he returns from leave.

Wapda had alleged that Sohail Abbas and Wasim Ahmed went to Germany to play as professionals with the instigation of then coach Shahnaz.

The charge had been denied by Shahnaz. Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) disciplinary committee conducted the inquiry and had exonerated Shahnaz from the allegation.

Shahnaz’s lawyer Rana Nasrullah served the notice to Wapda.
