Talha upsets Nasir

KARACHI, July 22: Talha Dar caused the first upset of the Karachi Club Open Sindh ranking tennis championship when he outlasted second seed Nasir Mushtaq 6-1, 6-7, 6-4 in the boys Under-14 event at Karachi Club on Tuesday.

In a match that lasted over two hours and it was Talha who emerged victor after the marathon encounter.

Boys Under-14: Danial Alvi vt Manoj 6-3, 6-2; Nasir Mushtaq bt Ali Darbari 6-3, 6-4; Ghulam Abbas bt S.M. Abbas Raza 7-6, 6-3; Ali Asghar Bandeali bt Rizwan Rajani 7-6, 6-1; Talha Dar bt Nasir Mushtaq 6-1, 6-7, 6-4.

Junior’s singles: Samad Baloch bt Mustafa Ali 6-1, 4-0 (retired); Saad Baloch bt Ghualm Abbas Panju 6-2, 6-2; Samad Baloch bt Hammad Shoaib 6-2, 6-2; Adnan Khan bt Sajid Khussain 6-3, 6-4; Jehan Zeb bt Shakoor Khan 7-6, 6-1

Men’s singles: Jalil Khan bt Rafi Darbari 6-1. 6-1

Junior’s doubles: Samad Baloch/Saad Baloch bt Mohammad Emad/ Amir Darvesh 6-0, 6-0.
