SUKKUR, July 18: At least eight villages were inundated, 50 Kutcha houses collapsed and rice crop on hundreds of acres of land was destroyed after a 40-foot wide breach occurred in Begari Canal in the Jacobabad district on Thursday.

The flooded villages included Ali Sher Jakhrani, Gul Sher Jakhrani and Maula Dad Khan Goth.

The local administration has shifted the affected people to safe places and work for plugging the breach is underway.

INJURED: Three policemen including the Risaldar SHO were injured when their mobile was hit by a rocket in Sher Garhi near Karampur, Jacobabad district, on Thursday.

When the police team during routine patrolling reached near Mir Wah on the Indus Highway, a dozen bandits, hiding in bushes, fired rocket on its vehicle.

As a result, Risaldar SHO Nooruddin Khooharo, police constable Rano Khan and driver Mohammad Siddiq Khoso were seriously injured.
