KARACHI, July 13: An 84-inch dia pipeline (Syphon-20), which was burst on Saturday following the dislocation of its rubber ring, has been repaired and normal water supply to all the affected towns has been restored.
A spokesman for the city government’s water and sanitation department told Dawn on Sunday that although about 48 hours were required to accomplish the repairing works of the Syphon-20, its displaced rubber rings had been re-located much ahead of the scheduled time.
With the bursting of Syphon-20, behind Federal Government Urdu University on Saturday, water supply to Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Jamshed and Saddar towns had almost halted, while other towns including Gulberg, North Nazimabad and Liaquatabad were supplied water with a very low pressure.
However, with the completion of Syphon-20’s repairing work ahead of its scheduled time, normal supply to all the affected towns has been restored on Sunday night, the spokesman added.
