PESHAWAR, July 8: The city police have recovered illicit arms, ammunition and arrested 48 persons, including 12 proclaimed offenders, from different areas of the city in night-long operations.

The police conducted raids in Badbar area on Monday night and arrested 36 persons on the charge of keeping illicit arms and ammunition, says a press release issued here on Tuesday. A police party also raided a hideout of criminals in the area and arrested 12 alleged proclaimed offenders.

The areas where raids were conducted included Shahabkhel, Sulemankhel, Surrayzai and Musazai villages.

The operation was launched at around 3am which continued till morning.

The arms and ammunition recovered during the operation included 12 hand-grenades, seven Kalashnikov, 13 rifles, one LMG, 11 shotguns, 16 pistols and many rounds of different bore, the press release added.—Bureau Report
