THATTA: Rain to benefit crops

Published July 8, 2003

THATTA, July 7: Intermittent rain in Thatta city and its suburbs continued here on Monday.

Despite the fact that people heaved a sigh of relief, the rain created problems in low lying areas, which were submerged under the water.

The areas of Thatta, Chuhar Jamali, Jati and Mirpur Bathoro have been receiving intermittent torrential rains since Sunday afternoon, suspending power supply for a prolonged period. Highways and link roads of Thatta town have been completely submerged under the rainwater.

Experts are of the view that rain would benefit the paddy fields, apart from nourishing the sugarcane and vegetable crops.
