15 suspects taken into custody

QUETTA, July 5: The police and personnel from other law enforcement agencies took 15 suspects into custody during search operations in different localities of the city on Sunday.

“We are questioning the suspects to get information about the tragic incident,” a senior police official said. Regarding a possible affiliation of these suspects with any group or party, he said investigation was under progress in this connection.

Sources said the concerned authorities were trying to ascertain the identity of the three attackers who were killed when the grenade, tied to the body of one of them, had exploded.

Meanwhile, Balochistan Governor Abdul Quadir and Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yousaf had a meeting with Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali and discussed the situation prevailing in the city following Friday’s tragedy.

They briefed the prime minister about the measures being taken for restoring normalcy in the city.

The prime minister expressed deep concern over the attack on the imambargah and said his government would not tolerate such incidents in the country. He directed the concerned authorities to take all steps for curbing the elements who were enemy of humanity.

Mr Jamali paid a visit to the Combined Military Hospital where the injured were admitted.

Besides, a meeting, which was presided over by the governor and attended among others by the chief minister, also discussed the situation prevailing in the city.

The concerned security officials briefed the meeting about the measures taken for normalizing the situation. Sources said some important decision were taken at the meeting.
