Uplift funds for desert area demanded

MIRPURKHAS, June 29: The district council members have demanded special funds to carry out development works in the desert area of the district.

Debating the district government budget 2002-03 at the council meeting here on Saturday, they also demanded honorarium for union council Nazims, Naib Nazims and councillors.

Initiating the debate, Faqir Haider termed the budget a budget of bureaucracy as more perks had been offered to the government officers in it.

Iftikhar Ahmed Arain said union councils should be directly given grants to carry out development works.

Khalid Pervez complained of misappropriation in school management funds.

Mian Saleem said the district government was not trusting union councils regarding use of funds. Malik Liaquat demanded special grant for the development of Mirpurkhas city.
