ISLAMABAD, June 28: Job seekers for employment abroad particularly for Malaysia have been advised by the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment to beware of fake recruitment agents, who, what the Bureau said, were busy in fleecing people.

According to the Bureau, it has not yet granted permission to any licensed Overseas Employment Promoters for recruitment of Pakistani workers for Malaysia.

Though, the government is likely to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Malaysia for recruitment of Pakistani workers, it has not yet been finalized.

The policy of recruitment will be announced as soon as the MoU is signed.

The Bureau and its Protectorates in Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and Quetta are the only authorized agencies to grant permission to the recruiting agents/agencies for such appointments.

The intending job seekers have been advised to check the credentials of such recruiting agents/agencies from the Bureau or its Protectorates in various cities. As regards Libya, the Bureau has advised the intending emigrants to confirm the availability of jobs there as a large number of Pakistani workers in Libya are facing numerous problems due to illegal channels.

The Bureau says according to new rules of the UAE government, only those having Matriculation certificate are eligible to get jobs in private sector there.

However, those working in the construction sector are exempted. Lately incidents have come to the knowledge of the Bureau that some illegal/fake agents obtained passports and identity cards from the job seekers and later on changed their photographs and sent persons other than the actual passport holders.—APP
