KHAIRPUR: Growers stage sit-in

KHAIRPUR, June 27: A large number of growers of Sobhodero observed a sit-in on Thursday near Saghiyoon to protest against the water shortage in Girkino and Teekino canals.

They raised slogans against the irrigation officials and demanded silt clearance of the Girkino Canal from its head to tail and an expansion of gauge at the Jadi section of Faiz Wah.

DEMO: School teachers staged a demonstration against the management of National Bank Thari Mirwah branch on Thursday. They said the bank had approved a scheme to pay three months advance salaries to its employees but the management was not making such payments to them.
