RAWALPINDI, June 23: Transporters are planning to relaunch their protest campaign against the franchise of routes.

This decision was taken in a meeting of the district transport committee, however the details of the meeting had been kept secret.

The general-secretary of the transporters association told Dawn that the committee would meet again on Wednesday to finalize the strategy.

He said despite protests, the district government was planning to go ahead with the franchise transport system. Such plans have sent a wave of concern amongst the transporters, he added.

Meanwhile, the commuters have complained against the behaviour of the transporters. They said the transporters did not complete the specified routes and accommodate more passengers than the seating capacity of the vehicles.
