KARACHI: Water crisis persists

Published June 20, 2003

KARACHI, June 19: Different parts of the city have been facing water shortage for the last one week, which adds to the miseries of the residents of the affected localities in current hot and sultry weather. The hard-hit areas include Clifton’s blocks 4 and 5, Federal B Area’s blocks 2 (Azizabad), 5, 6, 10 and 11, North Karachi’s sectors 5C-1, 5C-2, 11-J and parts of Buffer Zone.

According to the residents of KDA’s Kehkashan Bungalows, situated in Clifton’s block 5, they have not received a single drop of water during last 10 days.

Residents of the affected localities deplored that although they had lodged a number of complaints with the officials concerned of the city government’s water and sanitation department, no measures have, so far, been taken to restore the supply.
