PESHAWAR, June 17: Jamaat-i-Islami General Secretary Syed Munawwar Hassan has held the United States responsible for all the atrocities launched against Muslims across the world.

Speaking at a public meeting in Bannu, Mr Munawwar condemned the targeting of Muslim countries in the name of war on terrorism by the US, says a press release issued here on Sunday.

The Jamaat leader said Pakistan was the only nuclear power in the Islamic world, so the government should not role back its nuclear programme. He pointed out that the presence of foreigners in the country could pose threat to this programme, and urged the government to keep a check on the movement of foreign elements. Referring to Palestine, the occupied Kashmir and other parts of the world, he said helpless Muslims were being victimized everywhere, though they were either fighting in self-defence or to secure their freedom.

Jamaat provincial chief Senator Prof Muhammad Ibrahim Khan criticized President Musharraf’s stand on the Legal Framework Order.
