PESHAWAR, June 11: The NWFP Essential Institutional Reforms Operationalization Programme (NWFP-EIROP), a joint venture of the provincial government, UNDP and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation , has launched a special project for the capacity building of the district, tehsil and union council Nazims and Naib Nazims.

According to a notification of the local government department, the project is organizing two-day training workshops in the local government’s new budget code and development planning as revised by the National Reconstruction Bureau.

The activity will be undertaken for the union Nazims, Naib Nazims, union secretaries and three to five CCBs/NGOs representatives of all the 24 districts of the province.

The ARCON, an Islamabad-based NGO, has been assigned the task to organize the training in liaison with the NWFP-EIROP, the notification added.

A spokesman for ARCON said the process of organizing workshops had been started.—Correspondent
