Asghar-Sharif early leaders

KARACHI, June 7: Asghar Naqvi-Chaudhry Sharif pair is leading the pack with a score of 67.20 percent in the Worldwide Bridge Championship, according to results provided by Pakistan Bridge Federation (PBF) on Saturday competing from East-West direction.

Shahab Saeed-Naseer Ahmed leading the pairs from North-South with a score of 65.42 percent from the same house.

In the other Section of KBA, A.K. Bhurgari and Anwer Kemal are leading the pack with a score of 62.5 percent. However, to qualify for the world ranking there must be at least 70 percent score.

From Karachi Club where only 13 pairs contested, it was Ashfaq Tola-Raza Naqvi pair which came at the top.

Following are the top three positions in each house:

Green House (North-South): Naseer Ahmed-Shahab Saeed 65.52%, Ghulam Mohammed-Raees Ahmed 59.70%, Abdul Ghaffar- Shaikh Muqeet 58.89% percent, (East-West) Sharif Chaudhry-Asghar Naqvi 67.22%, A.K.Shakria-Tariq Zafar 57-26%, Syed Ameer Hasan- Hasnain 54.42%.

Red House (North-South) - A.K. Bhurgari-Anwer Kemal 62.50%, Zaher Karim-Rashidul Ghazi 59.23%, Zeenat Azwer-Qudsia Dossa 58.33% (East-West) Amin Hakeem-Gulzar Bilal 60.42%, Mushtaq-Azher 59.62 %, Iqbal Abidi-Yousuf Gheewala 58.45%.Shakeel named manager

Meanwhile, Pakistan Bridge Federation (PHF) has nominated Shakeel Chandna as the manager of Pakistan team for the BEFAME Zonal Bridge Championship being held at at Amman (Jordan) from Aug 1-10, says a press release issued Saturday.—APP
