ICCI team meets Chinese ambassador

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, June 3: Chinese ambassador to Pakistan Zhang Chunxiang on Tuesday said Pakistan had been offered the biggest ever financial assistance by his country.

Speaking in a meeting with a six-member delegation of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), headed by its President Mian Farid Akram, Mr Chunxiang said China had provided a $200-million-package for Gwader Port project, which was the biggest ever package offered to any country by China.

He said China followed market economy and decentralized economic decision-making, whereby its GDP has quadrupled since 1987.

He said his country had a conducive environment and attractive policy for foreign investment which have led to an investment of $50 billion in China.

He said China had provided ready-made infrastructure to foreign investors, three-year tax holiday followed by two years’ fifty per cent reduced rate tax on profits and an overall 17 per cent corporate tax on profits of companies.
