KARACHI, June 2: The World Environment Day will be observed on June 5 to stimulate worldwide awareness of the environment and enhance political attention and action.
This year the theme of the day is Water - Two Billion People are Dying for It! This theme has been chosen to support the United Nations International Year of Freshwater-2003 and World Water Day (March 22).
The main international celebrations of the World Environment Day 2003 will be held in Beirut, the first time in the Arab world. The government of Lebanon will be hosting this important United Nations day.—APP
