ISLAMABAD, June 1: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has prepared a Rs220 million PC-I for the construction of an additional third lane on both sides of Murree Road from Faizabad Chowk to Convention Centre, a source in the CDA told Dawn.

The project, in which the construction of seven-km long lanes has been proposed, will be completed within a year.

The source said the portion of Murree Road between Convention Centre and Faizabad fell on the VIP route, which was used by President Gen Pervez Musharraf for travelling between Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

A CDA official said the PC-I of the project would shortly be sent to the CDA board for approval and then to Executive Committee of National Economic Council (Ecnec). He said all projects whose estimated cost was more than Rs200 million had to be approved by Ecnec. He said the project would be commissioned in the next fiscal year.
