Former TMO charged with swindling money

By Our Correspondent

KOHAT, May 31: The anti-corruption department Kohat has charged a former tehsil municipal officer (TMO) with swindling Rs5 million by awarding contracts in violation of the prescribed rules and regulations and misuse of government property.

An inquiry report prepared after a detailed eight-month investigation had exposed the wrong doings of ex-TMO Dildar Danish.

The report says that violating the rules, he had awarded signboards’ contracts, auctioned latrines to his brother at less rate, sanctioned a Rs650,000 bill for a transformer and misappropriated Rs300,000 income from a live stock show held at Kharmatu and Rs19,50,000 in the allotment of shops at a bus stand.

A separate inquiry was also under way against him for completely destroying an official vehicle during his private tour to Murree and Lahore, and stealing antique crockery from his official residence during his stay at Kohat.

The accused had disappeared after the registration of a case against him and was declared a proclaimed offender by the law enforcing agencies.
