Imran strikes late winner

By Our Sports Reporter

KARACHI, May 29: Imran Khan’s last-gasp goal earned a 1-0 victory for Mekran Sports over Nawab XI in the first round of the KASB Premier League at Gabol Park on Thursday.

Both the sides remained goalless in the first half. Atta Hussain of Nawab XI got a yellow card in the 37th minute, while Asif Ali of Mekran Sports received a yellow in the 40th minute.

Imran, who was also cautioned in the 61st minute, finally broke the deadlock when he penetrated Nawab XI defences and dodged past two defenders in the 69th minute.

All the matches are of 70 minutes duration. Friday will be rest day. Usmanabad Union will take on Bhutta Mohammadan on Saturday at Usmanabad Stadium at 5.00pm.

The 10-team league, being played on round robin basis, is being organized by Karachi United Football Club in collaboration with City District Football Association and Sindh Football Association.
