Three-man team for Madrid contest

ISLAMABAD, May 21: Former Mr. World Ahmed Sadiq and two other bodybuilders are to represent Pakistan at the World Championship in Madrid this June.

Sadiq who won the Mr World crown in Germany in 1994, Saeed Mughal and Sohail Anwar have been chosen by the Pakistan Amateur Bodybuilding Guild (PABBG). Sikander Baloch has been named the manager.

Speaking to Dawn, Sadiq said that he was quite confident of winning the title this year. “I am working hard and am on a strict diet in preparation for the championship where I’ll be competing in the Master Class.”

Sadiq has been Pakistan’s flag-bearer in various events abroad including Mr. Olympia, Mr Universe and Mr. Asia competitions.

Meanwhile, the newly-elected president of PABBG, Jehanzeb Aziz called for a drug-free sport. “Bodybuilding is quite popular at the grassroots level and my main aim is to make it absolutely free of drugs.”
