BAHAWALPUR, May 12: Uch Sharif police have not so far registered a case against six masked men who raped a married woman and her mother-in-law on Thursday in their house at Mauza Pattai Khiara.

The armed men also took away valuables from the house of victims.

According to a complaint submitted to Uch Sharif SHO and other highups, six armed men entered the house of the complainant in his absence. They held his three brothers at pistol point, locked them in a room and raped the two women.

The matter was reported to police which inspected the scene of occurrence but did not register the case. One of the victims claimed that she identified one of the outlaws as Qasim. The complainants appealed the IGP to take legal action against the accused.

BVH: To provide better health cover, the indoor patients undergoing various operations in the Bahawal Victoria Hospital — an autonomous institution — are being supplied with all the required medicines.

This was claimed by principal executive officer, BVH and Quaid-i-Azam Medical College, Prof Dr Maj Muhammad Amin (retired) while talking to Dawn here on Monday.

He said each of the indoor patient for the purpose of operation was being provided medicines worth about Rs2,000 to Rs3,000.

However, he said the patients of neuro surgery, gynae and eye would have to bear the expenses of three to 10 additional medicines from their own pocket which were not costly.

Besides, he said that each of the patient was provided free-of-cost medicines at least for 12 hours in the emergency ward. The deserving in-door patients and government servants were also being provided medicines from hospital’s medical store and dispensary. He claimed that about 10,000 patients were being treated weekly in the BVH.

Prof Amin said that a sum of Rs30 million was being spent on the renovation of various wards.
