GUJRANWALA, May 10: Seventy Naib Nazims of various union councils expressed concern on tabling no-confidence motion against many of them and sought the help of president and Punjab chief minister so that the local government system could continue.

Speaking at a meeting held here on Saturday presided over by Haji Hanif Mughal, the participants expressed serious concern on tabling no-trust motion against Naib Nazims on the charge of misappropriation of funds and assured the victims that they would be provided legal support.

The meeting adopted a unanimous resolution demanding legal cover from the president and Punjab chief minister. A two-member legal committee comprising advocates Babu Abdul Rehman and Allah Ditta Chaudhry was formed for providing relief to the victims.

SOFT LOANS: Industrialists will be given soft term loans while the government was considering further cut in the markup besides easing the procedure.

This was stated by State Bank managing director Liaquat Ali Durrani at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on Saturday.

He said no loan has been issued by any bank to manufacturers for the last four years.

He said all bank branches have been directed to receive utility bills and warned of strict action if any branch declined to do so.
