Army crush Navy to retain national title

LAHORE, May 8: The defending champion Army defeated Navy 118-75 to retain the title in the national basketball championship which super league stage has entered in the last phase at the  Railways Stadium on Wednesday night.

Army  who  remained unbeaten in the championship have  to  meet Wapda in the last match.The match is important for Wapda and  not for  Army. If won, Wapda will secure the second position  and  in case  of loss they will go down to third and Habib Bank will  get the runners-up spot.

The  match  between Army and Wapda is scheduled  to  start  on Thursday night.

Among  three matches, Navy played two matches, lost  to  Army and won against Pakistan Air Force.

Army  defeated  Navy 118-75. Army’s Nawaizsh  (32)  and  Major Saleem  (22) played well. For Navy, Nazakat (16) and  Babar  (13) reduced the margin.

Navy beat PAF 72-64. Nadeem scored (23) and Mustafa (19)  were the major contributors for the winners. Gull Jamal (23) and  Gull Hasan (18) fought well for PAF.

Wapda  beat  Railways in a  well-contested  match  88-78. Jahangir  scored 31 points while Shahid Ali 15 for Wapda.  Liaqat (23) and Allah Bakhsh (18) reduced the margin for the losers.
