SIALKOT, May 7: District Nazim Mian Naeem Javaid and PML-Q tehsil president Chaudhry Akram Bhadaal lost valuables to unidentified culprits in separate incidents here late Tuesday night.

Unknown thieves broke into the sports goods manufacturing factory of Mian Javaid at Ghuenky in Daska tehsil, on the Sialkot-Daska Road, Motra police said.

The thieves decamped with Rs1.1 million in cash, according to the FIR.

The police are investigating the case but have not yet arrested anybody in this connection.

Meanwhile, at Bhadaal village in the jurisdiction of Sialkot Saddar police, a gang of 16 dacoits forced its way into the house of PML-Q Sialkot tehsil president Akram Bhadaal — a close friend of Sialkot-based NA speaker Chaudhry Ameer Hussain.

The dacoits took the inmates hostage at gunpoint and during a three-hour search of the house, collected gold ornaments, cash, electronics, licensed weapons and other valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees, before fleeing the place.

WARRANTS FOR ARREST OF DSP: Sialkot Additional District & Sessions Judge Tariq Mehmood Malik has issued warrants for the arrest of DSP Rana Ahmad Hassan as well as orders for the confiscation of his monthly salary for his failure to appear in the court and record evidence in a Hudood case.

WAGON SNATCHED: Four unidentified armed dacoits snatched a wagon (GAL-9073) from its driver, Ameen, near Pandoriyan village in Daska tehsil, Motra police said.

‘TB-FREE’: The DCO, Capt Zahid Saeed (retired), has said that Sialkot would be declared a TB-free district within the next two years, as the DOTS programme was successfully under progress.

He was speaking at the Daska Tehsil Anti-TB Association’s annual meeting at the Daska TB hospital. MPA Chaudhry Ansar Iqbal and Daska DDHO Dr Zafar Awan were also present on the occasion.

The DCO awarded a shield of honour to chest specialist Dr Nadeem Nazir for his meritorious services to TB patients.

He sought cooperation of local philanthropists and NGOs in government’s efforts to curb the menace of TB.

MPA Iqbal donated Rs25,000 to the TB hospital and pledged to struggle for early provision of Sui Gas facility to the hospital.
