KARACHI, May 7: Two Afghans, who had recently arrived from Afghanistan, were shot dead by unknown persons in their quarter in Sikandarabad.
50-year-old Abdullah and 45-year-old Habibullah had rented a quarter in Sikandarabad, Kemari, in the Jackson police limits, three days ago, police said.
Around 3pm on Wednesday some unknown persons came to their quarter, opened fire at the two men, and fled. Both the victims died on the spot, having suffered multiple bullet wounds.
Police said the victims’ identification papers showed that one had come from Kabul and the other belonged to Kundus. The bodies were shifted to the Civil Hospital for the postmortem examination.
KILLED: A young man and his father were shot dead in their house in North Nazimabad early Wednesday morning.
Police said that Muhammad Usman, aged 45, came out of his house in Kausar Niazi Colony, Block 4, North Nazimabad, to offer Fajar prayers when some armed men shot him dead.
Later the attackers barged into the house and opened fire at Shafeeq, the victim’s 15-year-old son.
Both the victims were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where Usman died shortly after arrival. The young boy had died on the spot, police added.
Six persons, including a nephew of Usman’s, have been nominated in the case. Police said that Usman’s second son, Habib, was absconding in a case in which he had opened fire at his sister’s inlaws in Kohat.
ROBBERIES: Thieves entered the house of Raheel Iqbal, secretary information of the PPP Karachi, in Defence View, Korangi Industrial Area, and stole Rs36,000 along with jewellery worth Rs100,000.
At the time of the theft in the afternoon there was no one at home. When the family returned they found the house ransacked.
The matter was reported to the police who failed to find any clue to the suspects.
