GUJRANWALA, May 6: A scrap dealer was killed and his son injured when a shell exploded in a shop on Naushera Road on Tuesday.

Shafi and his son, Ghulam Mustafa, were working in their shop when a shell exploded. Shafi died on the spot, while his son sustained injuries. The injured was admitted to the DHQ Hospital in critical condition.

The roof of shop also caved in due to the explosion.

Police are investigating.

FOUR KILLED: Four people, including two women and a police constable, were killed while a dozen others injured in separate road accidents in and around the city on Tuesday.

Shahnaz Bibi and Kalsoom Bibi of Gakkhar Town were on their way when a speeding car crushed them on the GT Road in front of the Wapda sub-division office. Both the women died on the spot.

The National Highway and Motorway Police arrested the car driver and handed him over to police.

Constable Abdul Ghaffar of Naushera Virkan was hit and killed by an oil-tanker on Sheikhupura Road at Tetley Lorry Adda.

Yousaf was killed and 12 others received injuries when a Sialkot-bound wagon rammed into a stationery tractor-trolley on Sialkot Road near Nandipur. The injured were removed to hospital.

EXAM SCHEDULE: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Gujranwala, on Tuesday announced the schedule for National Talent Scheme examinations, 2003.

According to the schedule, the last date for submitting admission forms with single fee is May 28 and with double fee June 14.
