HYDERABAD, May 5: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal will not allow the National Assembly to function in a normal way till the Legal Framework Order issue is resolved.

This was said by MMA leader MNA Dr Sahebzada Abul Khair Mohammad Zubair while talking to various delegations that called on him at his office on his return from Islamabad here on Monday.

He said the LFO had rendered the National Assembly ineffective and irrelevant as it gave all the powers to the president.

He admitted that the government had demonstrated some flexibility on the LFO issue but warned that the country would plunge into crisis if the issue was not resolved.

He said President Gen Pervez Musharraf would also have to go if he dissolved the assembly.

APPOINTMENTS FLAYED: The Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party has expressed concern over the appointments of two provincial advisers, one for Karachi and another for interior of Sindh.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, the STPP chairman, Dr Qadir Magsi, said that the step was harmful for the demographic unity of Sindh.

He alleged that the Sindh chief minister was being used by Islamabad and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement to achieve anti-Sindh objectives.

He said that on the one hand, the Mutthaida was loudly proclaiming that it was the well-wisher of Sindh and on the other, it was busy in “translating its old dream of dividing Sindh into reality.”

He expressed surprise that some nationalist forces and intellectuals had failed to read through the sinister designs of the Muttahida.

Mr Magsi, who is also the Sindh president of the Pakistan Oppressed Nations Movement, said that the patriotic forces of Sindh would resist every move aimed at the division of Sindh.

He warned that if the decision to appoint separate advisers for Karachi and interior of Sindh was not withdrawn, the central committee of his party would consider to launch a protest movement against the decision.

murder deplored: On the call of the Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association, black day was observed in the colleges of interior of Sindh to protest against murder of a lecturer of a Karachi college, Aliya Anjum.

The college teachers wore black arm-bands during the examinations, held protest meetings where they adopted resolutions for the arrest of the murderers. A condolence meeting was held at the Government Sachal Arts and Commerce College, Hyderabad, which was attended by SPLA office-bearers.
