KARACHI, May 4: Sindh Chief Minister Sardar Ali Mohammad Mahar on Sunday said that industrialists and investors were being urged to ensure provision of jobs to the people residing in vicinity of an industrial unit to help combat unemployment.

He reiterated his commitment to address the issue of rampant unemployment in the province, while speaking at the weekly open kutchery, here at his residence on Sunday, attended by people from across the province.

“Coordinated efforts would be made in this regard”, he said, adding that public representatives, administration and the local people would be involved in the process, to make them realize their respective responsibilities.

He said that to address one of the most pressing issues, unemployment, faced by the people, industrial development was being given due importance.

He said industrial units were being set up at fast pace in Karachi, Hyderabad, Kotri and Nooriabad.

To boost the process of industrialization, the provincial government had approved expansion of the SITE area in Hyderabad, he said.

The idea, he said was to establish more industrial units beyond the Zeal Pak Factory at the Tando Mohammad Khan Road.

The meeting, among others, was also attended by Sindh minister for Population Welfare and Women Development Dr Saida Malik, Dr Irfan Gul Magsi and Syed Manzoor Hussein Shah. —APP

REWARDS: A reward of one million rupees has been announced by the chief minister for the police party which had killed six dacoits in an operation near Tando Adam. He also announced a reward of Rs300,000 each for the DPOs Amir Shaikh (Sanghar), Pir Farid Jan Sarhindi (Hyderabad) and Dr Amin Yusufzai (Mirpurkhas). Earlier, the CM had announced a compensation of Rs300,000 each for the constables who laid down their lives in line of duty during the encounter.
